Costa Rica Forums & Discussion

There are also several excellent bulletin boards and forums for Costa Rica where you can get up to the minute news and information and post requests for rentals wanted, need a surfboard, camera for sale etc.

You can always get your questions answered by us either by using the contact forms on each page or if you prefer visit us on Facebook and post a question.

Quick, accurate, informed responses to questions about budget travel in Central America on Lonely Planet’s ThornTree.

Fodor’s travel forum for Central America is quite active, and the place to ask if you need information on more upscale travel.

Active board mainly for retirees and residents in Costa Rica on an excellent all around website. Some travel information.

Costa Rica Social Media

Unfortunately we cannot recommend any Facebook Groups for Costa Rica relocation information.

It seems like a Facebook Group would be the perfect place to find interesting discussions, questions and answers and sage advice from old timers.   Some of that is possible but groups we’ve checked out also tend to be infested with very angry, paranoid, and downright mean trolls and lurkers who especially enjoy preying on newbies.

Almost every thread on any topic quickly deviates from the original subject and deteriorates into bickering, attempts at humiliation and ridiculous statements from people vainly trying to prove they’re the real expert and everyone else is an idiot.

For those unfamiliar with Facebook, Groups are like discussion forums and Pages are more like webpages with comments enabled.  Typically Pages are relatively safe but difficult places to get conversations started.  Groups on the other hand facilitate conversations but many of them are not entirely civil.

If you have a high tolerance for anger and are good at ignoring b.s. you can find Groups by searching terms like Costa Rica expats or Costa Rica living.
