Arenal Lodge is one of the most popular in the region.  Most of the rooms have excellent views of the volcano (non-view rooms are clearly noted and discounted on their reservation form) and they offer a wakeup service if there is a particularly brilliant eruption in the middle of the night.

Fishing excursions in Lake Arenal are available. An experienced local guide navigates the boat to the best spots to try your luck for guapote, mojarra, and the area version of the piranha—the machaca.
