The muddy brown waters of the Sierpe river empty into the Bahia de Coronado. Isla Violin is on the left of the opening, there is a small boat in the middle of the channel on the left of the opening is playa Blanca then Punta Sierpe at the center and Playa Ganado stretching to the right. Sierpe Terraba wetlands in the background protects all five species of mangroves found in Costa Rica (black, white, red, tea and buttonwood).
