Quetzales aren’t known for their camouflage, in fact they’re quite flamboyantly pigmented and famous for their spectacular display flights. Despite their garish colors they blend in remarkably well with the reds and greens of the epiphytes in the cloud forest canopy. This male’s body is in the center of the frame and his meter long blue green tail can be seen dropping straight down between the branches stretching all the way to the bottom of the photo (Barva sector, Braulio Carrillo National Park Costa Rica).
