Scarlet Macaw, Ara macao (Spanish-Lapa Roja or Guacamaya Roja). Scarlet macaws are extremely endangered but there are at least two places in Costa Rica where they are comonly seen: alongside the trails and beaches of Corcovado National Park, and near Carara National Park where a large flock feeds during the day before flying over the highway to the coastal mangroves to roost for the night.
