Controlling the menus will be a big part of controlling the navigation.
The more I look the more I realize that everything has to be controlled
by menus.
The four pre-existing menus are assigned to
main menu-Costa Rica Guide expandable category content
other menu-Mambits
user menu-Credits (mambits credits, copyright, contact info)
top menu-Costa Rica Guide Main Navigation (home, intro, map,
Your Trip, bookstore, photos, practicalities (need to figure out the
formatting on this menu before using. When installed in
top_center position it moves the title down and crams it together with
the search box.
MOVING-The whole mambits menu structure was successfully moved to the
usermenu from the mainmenu by simply selecting the mambits section
table link (not the individual sublinks) from the menu manager and
using the move button to choose usermenu.
ARCHITECTURE-Use the Module Manager on usermenu to select "Menu
Item Link(s)" so that the usermenu only shows up on credits, and
usermenu + the subitems under usermenu. This prevents the display
of the mambits items on the Costa Rica pages, but allows full public
access to them through the credits link.
Note-when new items are added to the usermenu they do not automatically
display the usermenu. You have to go in and select them with Module
Manager on usermenu "Menu Item Link(s)"
Previously used permission of special to prevent the display of mambits
items on the Costa Rica pages, but that was problematic because then
how do you display them to the public. Use special permission for
things like "add mambit" link that the public should never have access
to.
FORMATTING-Use the Module Manager on the menu to set "indent image" to none
